The bite valve on these amazing 3L water bladders is covered with a cap which is connected to the water hose. This cover keeps the bite valve clean, nothing worse than have a sip of water mixed up with sand or dirt. To get water out of the unit simply bite down gently on the valve and suck. Water will only exit the valve if the the valve is opened in this way.
