Smaller towels suit lightweight hiking, while the larger sizes provide more familiar full-body coverage for camping, swimming, travel and gym use.

For Lightweight Hiking

If reducing pack weight is your main consideration, the 50.8 x 101.6 cm 108 g towel is the lightest option in the range. Its smaller dimensions mean you will generally dry yourself by patting rather than wrapping the towel around your body.

The 80 x 130 cm and 142 x 71 cm options provide additional coverage while still keeping weight relatively low, making them useful choices for overnight hikes and multi-day tramping trips.

For Camping and Travel

The 76 x 152 cm Vuno lightweight towel provides a useful middle ground. At approximately 247 g, it offers considerably more coverage than the smallest hiking towel while remaining compact enough for a backpack, suitcase or camping bag.

For Swimming, Beach Trips and Maximum Coverage

For buyers who prefer something closer to the dimensions of a conventional bath or beach towel, consider one of the largest options. The 80 x 180 cm Vuno towel weighs approximately 305 g and provides generous full-body coverage, while the 183 x 81 cm towel provides similarly large dimensions.

Why Use Microfibre Instead of a Cotton Towel?

Microfibre towels are particularly useful when carrying space and drying time matter. Their thinner construction allows them to pack into a smaller space than many traditional cotton towels, while the absorbent, quick-drying fabric makes them practical for repeated use during hiking, camping and travel.

For beach use, the smooth surface of the current Vuno towels can also make sand easier to shake away than from a thick-looped cotton towel, although no towel should be considered completely sand-free.

Choosing Between Weight and Coverage

There is no single best size for everyone. For tramping, prioritise the smallest towel that provides enough drying ability for your needs. For vehicle-based camping, swimming, beach trips or the gym, carrying an extra 100–200 grams may be worthwhile for the additional coverage provided by one of the larger microfibre towels.
