New Zealand Knife Laws

In New Zealand, folding pocket knives are legal to own and carry in public if there is a lawful purpose – such as for work, tramping, camping, fishing, or other recreational use. However:

• You must not carry a knife in public for self-defence or without good reason.
• Spring-assisted, automatic-opening, and concealed knives are restricted or prohibited.
• Our folding knives feature manual opening and do not fall under prohibited categories (as at 16/07/2025).
