What Makes These Tents so Lightweight?

The key ingredient which makes these tents so extremely light is the 15D custom coated silicon fabric. This fabric is used to make the flysheet. It is made up of three layers each layer has a specific purpose as shown below. The material is windproof and waterproof up to 5000mm.

As well as the top layer been made from ultralight fabric the bottom layer is also made from an ultralight weight fabric. The bottle layer is made from 20D light silicone waterproof nylon. This fabric is tear resistant however we still recommend the use of a groundsheet.

Further to the ultralight tent fabric, these tents are pole less tents. This means you will need two hiking poles to set them up. Alternatively you can use two other straight objects like smooth branches or tie both ends to nearby trees. If you are going to use branches ensure there are no bit sticking out which could damage the tent.

What Else Makes this Tent Amazing?

The best feature of this tent other than it’s ultralight weight and small packing size is the two doors. Unlike most 2 person tents this tent has two doors which makes like easier, especially if one of the users has to get up in the middle of the night. With the two door access you will be able to enter and exit the tent freely without having to disturb the other user.

Because these tents are two layer tents you can use the inside tent on it’s own. This means on a fine night you can fall asleep watching the stars at night. Furthermore you can do this without worrying about getting bitten as the the inside layer is made with fine nylon breathable mesh. This breathable mesh keeps mosquito’s and sandflies out, assuming you are quick enough to close the tents doors.

Inside the tent you will find a lantern hook for hanging your light and a pocket. The pocket is useful for storing items which need to be found quickly at night such as your phone and a torch.

Important Quality Features

Unlike some cheaper ultralight hiking tents the 3F UL Lanshan 2 tent has reinforcement in areas which need it the most. Such areas include most of the tents anchor points where tension is required to erect the tent well. Please note this does not make the tent invincible, care is still needed as to not over tension. Ultralight tents are still not as tough as regular camping tents.

Another important thing to look for when buying a tent is to ensure the tents seams have been protected from the rain. The seams on these Flames Creed Lanshan 2 tents have been taped with siliconized tape to stop water from leaking through. This in effect plugs the holes in the fabric caused from the stitching.
